Feature Update KB 20240812

This required feature update for Visual DOS 2024 adds exciting usability and quality of life improvements.

Features

New Dynamic Visual Scrollback buffer controls that can be used with your visual on screen location indicator to easily scroll back through the screen. The dynamic Scrollback location indicator also indicates how large the Scrollback is

  • (persistent scrollbars added, with a dynamic thumb that as always sorta there but now you can see it and it’s styled)

New Visual On-Screen Location Indicator

  • (Mouse cursor has a more in-universe block look)

Two-part Text Insertion lets you know what will be deleted, or what would be inserted

  • (Perhaps in an alternate DOS reality, Jeff Raskin’s insertion point ideas became mainstream.)

Bug Fixes

Updated graphics libraries and added support for more video cards

  • (fixed an issue where text scrolled behind the command line, an issue where the screen did not scroll, an issue where the command line overlapped scrolling)

Greater stability connecting to central AI Servers

  • (The command line was supposed to be case insensitive. Now it is.)
