WetWare Essentials for Visual DOS
WetWare Essentials for Visual DOS
WetWare helps connect, maintain, and administer various pieces of biologically connected hardware over standard networking protocols.
By converting brain impulses into network packets, it is easier than ever for licensed corporations to build functional hardware to enhance the body, or replace limbs and organs. Via the WetWare API, less time needs to be spent abstracting and building the scaffolding to talk to devices. Instead developers can spend the time working on the logic for the devices.
Troubleshooting and debugging is also effortless. No more error checking needs to be done, when all errors can be handled at the top global level.
This enables corporations to do more with less, passing on savings to their shareholders.
No really what are we doing here?
WetWare for Visual DOS is an interactive fiction / novel that maybe takes place before Visual DOS Tech Preview. While the lore and story in Tech Preview is longer and more expansive, this one presents it in a more accessible format, with significantly fewer puzzles, less tinkering with virtual machines, and no need for a (Visual) DOS user guide.
WetWare Essentials contains the following content
- Swear words
- Accidental self harm
- Blood
- Likely Common transgender trauma

I think I also have the "stuck in a loop" issue another commenter mentioned! I see you've been sick, I hope you feel better soon! I will patiently wait for the update before playing more :)
the loop is intentional. there may be loop bits missing bc i missnamed a variable. or two. or three. (like, you would have known the loop was intentional if i named the variabes right) 😬 thankk you for the well wishes.
Ohhhh gotcha! I got a little confused, because the loop did feel intentional, but also not, and... anyway, I will play more again. Thank you!
I fixed it so it should be more obvious it’s intentional, and the missing areas should be accessible now.
I really love how this game does so much with so little. The dialogue and presented choices, the way they're displayed within lines of code are so fascinating and really give a strong Phillip K Dick vibe.
Managed to really creep me out more than some horror games I've played on Steam. This is a great example of how no fancy graphics, score or game mechanic can beat a good story.
Excited to see more!
I may be dumb
I've spent over an hour here, I'm unsure if it's intended but I'm in a loop of looking at the album and that restarting the game. I have no idea what to do, I've found out that the kids ages change randomly, I couldn't translate their ages into text though...
What am I missing?
part of it might be, I’ve been sick with covid.
And reviewing the code I realized a lot of variables are misspelled in the silliest ways.
I’m slowly working on fixing those problems, but the brain fog can be bad and I don’t want to fight through it and release more misspelled variables and bad logic.
Please do not push yourself, take proper rest :3
I’ll try 😁
Tech preview operates properly and has much of the story inside it if you wanna do that instead of waiting
im gonna try to get some sleepwwhile no one needs me 😊
I didn’t push myself i promise, but I used some time I was feeling better to make fixes and uploaded it.
I also made a visual timeline of where everything should fit: https://visualdos.com/timeline/
The loop is intentional, but it should have been obvious the loop was intentional. Now there should be extra accessible content, and the loop where selecting the scrapbook causing the scrapbook to be infinite should be fixed too.
